BANGALORE: The Department of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies (AIGS), Soladevanahalli, organised a two-day IT fest, ‘techminds FIESTA’. Over 350 students from 40 colleges across the state participated in the event. Six events namely, counter strike, image mania, IT quiz, coding and debugging, NFS and web designing competitions were held.The Rolling trophy of ‘techminds FIESTA-2012’ was bagged by Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore for their performance throughout the fest. Speaking about the event, Biju K Balan, HOD of BCA department said, “A complete two-day IT fest witnessed a lot more enthusiastic participation across the colleges of Karnataka.” Compared to the previous year, the turn out this year is more and we expect much more in the coming year. He added, “It’s a significant development which creates more awareness especially on the ‘techmind FIESTA,’ as well as other IT Competitions among the students.”The ‘counter strike’ was a gaming event in which participants had to defend their counter attacks from the enemies using the gaming software. Other events too attracted the participants, as they enthusiastically took part in the event and bagged prizes for their performances. Appreciating the endeavour, Ravi, a student from Christ University, said, “We enjoyed being at this fest and the environment of the colleges was soothing.”“I would like to thank our HOD and principal AIGS in coming forward and helping us to organise the event. I would also like to thank all the participants who made the event a grand success.” said Akasha, a student.
