CBI Special Judge T S P Moosath posted the case after hearing the petitions of social activist Jomon Puthanpurackal, Crime Branch former SP K T Michael and advocate Nagaraj. In the petitions, the three said that the present charge-sheet filed by the CBI probe team lacked clarity and it appeared that a full-fledged investigation had not been conducted in the case. Nagaraj told the court that there was evidence that Abhaya was raped before she was murdered. Appearing for K T Michael, advocate S Chandrashekaran Nair said that CBI former DYSP Varghese P Thomas, Kottayam Sub Divisional Magistrate court employees K N Muraleedharan and Eliyamma had tampered with the material evidence. He also sought an investigation into the conspiracy behind the destruction of evidence. Jomon alleged in his petition that several people had conspired during the courseof the investigation to destroy vital evidence. However, the CBI investigation team did not feel the necessity to include their names inthe chargesheet and conduct a probe into their involvement, he said. He sought the court to order a further inquiry into the role of former Sub Divisional Magistrate of Kottayam K G Kishore, Crime Branch former Superintendent, Kottayam, K T Michael, Kottayam former DySP K Samuel, Chief Chemical Examiner R Geetha, Assistant Chemical Examiner M Chithra, Muraleedharan, kitchen staff of Pious Tenth Convent Achamma and Thresiamma and Sister Abhaya’s roommate Sister Sherley for allegedly trying to tamper with the evidence. first published:September 05, 2012, 12:37 ISTlast updated:September 05, 2012, 12:37 IST
