‘Advances-2012’, the thirteenth annual congress organised by the Trivandrum OBGYN Club, will be held in the city on September 21, 22 and 23.
The congress, for updating the gynaecological community about the recent developments in the field of obstetrics and reproductive medicine, will be inaugurated by former additional chief secretary D Babu Paul at 7 pm on Friday. This year, the focus will be especially on anovulatory infertility, which is a major contributor of infertility.
As many as 350 delegates and 35 national and international speakers are expected to attend the event. Eminent oncologist Dr V P Gangadharan will speak on the topic ‘Women and cancer.’ As preservation of fertility in cancer patients is an issue gaining importance worldwide, Dr Alpa Nick from MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Houston, will share her views on the topic.
Childbirth, problems during labour, gynaecologic malignancies, urological problems and newer therapies for the foetus inside the uterus will be some of the topics that will be discussed.
Renowned gynaecologist Dr Roy Homburg from Israel, Dr Evita Fernandez from Hyderabad, Dr Ashok Khurana from Delhi, Dr Lekshmi Seshadri from Vellore, Dr Srinivas Radesh from Bangalore and other eminent national faculty such as Dr Madhuri Patil, Dr Pratap Kumar, Dr Nalini Mahajan and Dr Mridhubhashini will participate in the meet.
