Kerala: A day after the tragic fire incident at Kollam's Puttingal Devi temple in Kerala, anxious relatives continue their search for missing family members at hospitals and mortuaries.
Many of them are having a difficult time in searching for their missing family members. Some of the bodies are so badly charred that their identification is extremely difficult.
"My uncle Ajay went missing after the incident. We enquired about him across wards and mortuaries in seven hospitals. Finally we managed to find him in Ward No 18 of Trivandrum Medical College," one of the victim's relative Deepak said.
However, there are many who are not as lucky as Deepak. They are still having a harrowing time in locating their relatives who went missing after the incident.
More than 100 people were killed and 300-odd injured in the fire incident during the fireworks display at the temple on Sunday.
According to an eye-witness the incident happened after two groups engaged in fireworks competition. "I saw firecrackers bursting around me. The sparks fell on my body and then I fell unconscious. One of my friends took me to the hospital and informed my family."
Another eye-witness said, "We were not aware that the temple officials went ahead with the fireworks without an official permission from the local administration. I used to go every year to this temple during festival time and still finding it difficult to recover from the trauma. I don't know how it all turned tragic."
