New Delhi: Air India pilots on Saturday called off their stir after from the CMD and Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh for the payment of their pending salaries.
Singh promised that the dues of the Air India pilots will be paid soon, adding that it will take time because the finances are in bad shape.
"Next week I will meet the Finance Minister about it, we will try to pay not all the salaries and allowances but most of it should be paid," Singh said.
Air India flyers bore the brunt on Saturday morning after 18 pilots failed to show up for duty. The national carrier has been forced to cancel 20 flights that were scheduled to operate from Delhi, three flights from Mumbai have been cancelled.
Passengers who were booked on the affected flights have been put on alternate flights. Air India is working on a contingency plan. The airline says it will club more flights if required and accommodate passengers in other flights.
Flights in Mumbai are flying as scheduled so far. In Chennai Air India is clubbing two Delhi bound flights into one as a stop-gap arrangement.
