Mumbai: MNS workers allegedly attacked some pilgrims sleeping outside the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Central Mumbai late on Monday night.
However, the MNS has denied any involvement with the attack. The party said none of the men involved with the incident were MNS workers. MNS leader Atul Sarpotdar also denied his party's role in the incident.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police said they were reviewing the television footage to identify the culprits.
The needle of suspicion points towards MNS because the party had threatened retaliation for a statement made by a religious leader against party chief Raj Thackeray.
Leader of the Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Mahasangh Kuldip Bhardway had reportedly said that he will give Rs 1 crore to anyone who slapped Raj Thackeray.
No arrests have been made in this regard, police said.
