KOCHI: Anti-corruption slogans rang high in Kochi as the demand for Jan Lokpal intensifies in Delhi. On Wednesday, Kochiites woke up to the scene of social activist K V Prakash being chained by filmmaker Major Ravi “to symbolically represent that Indian democracy is in chains now”, as part of the protests being held by the Anti-corruption People’s Movement.The second day of protests continued with more citizens extending their support. At the ‘sathyagraha pandal’ in front of the Gandhi Bhavan at Kacherippady, supporters of the anti-corruption movement voiced their protest. “Our democracy is being slaughtered by the government,” said BJP leader C G Rajagopal. Former mayor Mathew Pylee, M K Shahnawaz, T R Sadananda Bhatt, Prof V P G Marar and K G Venugopal participated. A protest march with the support of the merchants association was held from Kacherippady to Gandhi Square in the evening.
