Apaharan goes to Israel
After creating waves at the Dubai film festival, Bollywood flicks are now being screened at the Film Festival of India held in Israel.

New Delhi: After winning critical acclaim at the IFFI, Goa, Prakash Jha’s latest offering is now headed for Israel.

Apaharan will be the inaugural film at the Film Festival of India held at Israel next month.

Set against the backdrop of a thriving kidnapping industry in the Hindi heartland of Bihar, Apaharan is a story of a tumultuous and complex relationship between a father (Mohan Agashe) and son (Ajay Devgan).

Prakash Jha, along with Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar, will be present during the inaugural ceremony.

The Embassy of India is organising the Festival from January 5 to 18, 2006 in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel and the Cinamatheques at Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa.

Seven other Indian films, some of them in regional languages, will be screened at the festival.

Other mainstream Bollywood films heading for the festival include Mangal Pandey - The Rising, which will be screened on January 7 and Being Cyrus on January 8.
