HYDERABAD: With talks between APSRTC, Hyderabad Zone officials and employees union (EU) failing over implementation of GO No 90 and regularising contract workers in the corporation, the union leaders on Thursday declared that they would go on strike on August 7 in the city. “As many as 10,000 members of the Employees Union will boycott their duties and participate in the strike on August 7,” said K Raji Reddy, zonal secretary, APSRTC employees union. He said that the state government issued GO 90 to regularising more than 12,000 contract workers in a phased manner. The government regularised 6,000 workers in the first phase but failed to carry the process forward. “We issued a strike notice demanding implementation of the GO to the APSRTC management on July 27 and they gave us an assurance too,” he added. Talks took place between the APSRTC officials and the union members in the presence of labour department commissioner Varahala Reddy on Thursday. But as the talks failed, the union has decided to go ahead with the proposed strike.
