MANGALORE: Naxals should give up their gun as the government is ready to rehabilitate and provide employment to them, said Home Minister R Ashok.Speaking to the Media on the sidelines of a function here on Saturday, he said, “As guns will not yield anything, naxals should bid goodbye to arms. The government has been providing packages to the naxal-affected areas. Considering this, naxals should surrender.”Compared to other states, naxalism is less active in Karnataka. Only in some places such as Chikmagalur and Udupi districts, are naxals in operation, he clarified, when reporters sought to know why the Central government has not marked Karnataka as a naxal-infested zone. There are some hired naxals who speak Tamil and are active in the state. But any such plan of naxals will not succeed as the government will continue with its combing operations, he added. When questioned about the communal conflict at Uppinangady and provocative speeches by RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar at Hindu Samajotsav, he said, “Action has been taken as per the FIR registered by both the sides. Further action will be taken only after investigation.”
