As per the information of Local18, the authorities of the Mukutmanipur village in West Bengal have decided to release water from the Kangsabati reservoir. It is done to lessen the risks of flooding in the lower basin, because of continuous rains in the past three days.

More information states that around 10,000 cusecs of water were released into the river from the reservoir at around 11 am on Monday. According to the authorities of Kangsabati, the quantity of water will be increased in phases, based on the amount of rain.

The reservoir, which belongs to the Kangsabati Irrigation Department, has a holding capacity of 434 feet. After two days of continuous rains, the water level of the reservoir rose to 433.80 feet, reports Local18. So, taking into consideration the possibility of more rain in the next few days, the authorities decided to take action in advance, reducing the risk of flooding. However, a lot of residents still feel that the lower basin of Kangsabati is at a high risk of flooding.

The scenic view of the waterfalls has become a popular spot among the tourists. According to Local18, they have been gathering at the place since Monday morning. The irrigation authorities are organizing precautionary campaigns in the area, more information state.
