KOCHI: The Kochi city district committee of the Kerala Police Association is all set to launch an awareness initiative against drugs. ‘HOPE’ - A KPA Kochi city initiative against alcohol and drugs is being launched by the Police Association. As part of the initiative, a permanent awareness cell under HOPE will be set up at police stations in the city. The project will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas at 5.30 pm on Friday at Arjun Mash open stadium Palluruthy. As part of the inauguration, a mass run will be organised from BOT Bridge Junction Thoppumpady to Arjun Mash open stadium, Palluruthy. Over 1,000 people, including policemen, student police cadets, prominent individuals from socio-political and cultural fields and representatives of other organisations, will participate in the mass run. It will be flagged off by Dominic Presentation MLA. Excise Minister K Babu will give the anti-drug message at the inaugural function. Charles Dias MP, MLAs Benny Behanan and Hibi Eden, Mayor Tony Chammany and Ernakulam Range IG R Sreelekha will also attend. City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar will administer the anti-drug oath.
