Deewar
Amitabh’s dramatic death in his mother’s (played by Nirupa Roy) lap will remain one of the most iconic scenes in Indian cinema. The ultimate image of good prevailing over bad culminates in this scene. However, the message rings out loud and clear that Vijay Verma (played by Bachchan) was a victim of circumstances.
Sholay
One of Bollywood’s most famous stories, Sholay is one of Bachchan’s best. With his sizzling dialogues and witty comments, he won our hearts with perfect ease. The film with several twists and turns ended with Jai’s (Bachchan) sacrificing his life so that his best friend lives on. After fending off bullets and taking down several of Gabbar’s men, Jai’s death in Veeru’s (Dharmendra) arms and the subsequent revelation about the coin makes the ultimate statement on friendship.
Don
In this 1978 Bollywood action film, Amitabh plays a double role. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at nabbing him, Don (played by Amitabh Bachchan) dies in a pursuit sequence between him and the police force. However, his lookalike Vijay manages to escape death's clutches in the end.
Kasme Waade
This box office blockbuster once again saw Bachchan playing a double role. While the character of Amit (played by Bachchan) dies in the hands of miscreants while coming to his brother’s (Randhir Kapoor) aid, the actor again resurfaces in the form of Amit’s lookalike Shankar.
Muqaddar Ka Sikandar
This tragic film had more than one love story weaved into the plot and was a cauldron of conflicting human emotions. Amjad Khan (Dilawar) who plays the villain in the film gets into a combat with Amitabh Bachchan (Sikandar) that culminates in both being fatally wounded. Sikandar finally dies in Vinod Khanna’s arms as the latter sings him an emotional song.
