Bangalore: Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials from New Delhi will arrive in the city in a few days to question three people arrested by the Koramangala police for circulating threat messages as well as MMSes, officials said on Wednesday. The IB team’s mission is to ascertain whether the three had links with any organisations in Pakistan, which India accused of uploading morphed images that instigated communal hatred.
“The Union Government has taken the matter seriously. Hence, IB officials have been directed to look into the case and extract details about the activities and links of the arrested trio,” a police officer told Express on condition of anonymity. The Koramangala police arrested Anees Pasha (26) of BTM Layout 1st Stage, his brother Thaseen Nawaz (32) and Shahid Salman Khan (22) of Teachers Colony in Venkatapura on August 18.
The mastermind in the case, Pasha, was running a mobile repair shop in Koramangala 7th Block. He was allegedly downloading videos from the internet and converting them into MMS clips, which were then sent out to instigate hatred against people from the northeast. He also sent out threat messages to the northeasterners.
