BANGALORE: Each time a festival approaches, the city once used to be decked up with posters hosting smiling faces of politicians and local corporators. Last Rajyotsava,  however, the BBMP cracked down over pasting posters, banners and small flyers across the town. Months later, the Palike main office wears a colourful look, this time it is politicians and local leaders wishing the common man on the eve of Republic Day. However, the lack of strict action by any Palike official against this has resulted in many problems around the main office of the BBMP.In a recent event, the huge 30 feet signal post that was decked up with huge hard back posters of the CM and other leaders wishing the city for Republic Day started wobbling uncontrollably, in the middle of the day.Witnessing this sight were over 500 vehicles, stopped at the signals from all sides, the local circle inspectors and other cops and all the hawkers who stationed themselves at the corporation footpath. “I was waiting at the signal near Corporation building when the signal post started shaking. On coming close to the small crowd gathered there, we saw a hawker seriously injured. His small kid pointed out the hard back poster that had collapsed on his father’s head. The traffic was halted for around 10 minutes,” said Jagadish Kumar, a pedestrian and an eye witness.Meanwhile, the traffic cop too pointed out at the large signal post that had started shaking. “We have reported this matter to the BBMP leaders months back but nothing has been done yet,” said the circle inspector.
