CHENNAI: Students of management must develop their inquisitiveness, perseverance and a habit of reliance on well-researched data in their quest for excellence. That was the message to the students from eminent persons who spoke at Crescita, a two-day annual management summit of the Bharathidasan Institute of Management.Speaking at the inaugural session of the summit, Director General of Foreign Trade Anup Pujari asked the students to be inquisitive in the decision-making process. He also told them not to jump to conclusions based on patchy data and base their decisions on understanding based on strong factual backing. He  spoke to the students about the kind of support first time traders could expect to get in today’s scenario.Other speakers at sessions through the day also had words of wisdom for the budding managers. Dwelling on the theme of this year’s summit — Praachamanyu, a Sanskrit word that means ‘looking back to move forward’ — S Krishnan, Chairman, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, urged the students to move away from current methods of labour management that place more emphasis on certification than on training. In fact, he said, it should be the other way round.
