KOCHI: After the dull performance of movies in the first half, Mollywood is all set to buzz with activity as an array of big budget movies is slated for release in the next three months. The first biggie lined up for release is ‘Snehaveedu’ by the dream combo director Satyan Anthikkad and actor Mohanlal.Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Films, the movie will see veteran actor Sheela portraying the role of Ammukkutty Amma. Mohanlal plays the role of Ajayan, Ammukktty Amma’s lone son. Director himself pens the script of the movie which is cinematographed by Venu. Ilayaraja will handle the music department. The movie will be released in October.Actor Dileep’s comic caper ‘Mr Marumakan’ will hit the screens on October 26. The movie, produced by Maha Subair under the banner Varnachitra Big Screen, is directed by Sandhya Mohan. Dileep portrays the role of Asok Chakravarthy. Sanusha is the heroine. Written by Udaykrishna and Siby K Thomas, the star cast also includes Tamil actors Bhagyaraj and Khushboo along with Salimkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu. Nedumudi Venu and Biju Menon.After ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint,’ writer director Ranjith will come up with his new movie ‘Indian Rupee’ in October. The film, which will have Prithviraj in the lead role, is produced by the actors own production house- August Cinemas. Thilakan, Reema Kallingal and Revathy portray the other major roles in the movie. Shahbaz Aman is the music director.The month of November will see two much-hyped movies of Big Ms hit the screens. Mammootty’s ‘Venicele Vyapari’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum.’The evergreen duo of Mohanlal and director Priyadarsan will return to Mollywood after a gap of 10 years through ‘Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum.’ Produced by Ashok Kumar, Jamal Al Nuaimi and Naveen Sasidharan, the movie will also have Mukesh, Vidya Balan, Lakshmi Rai, Bhavana and Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor in lead roles. M G Sreekumar is the music director.Mammootty’s widely expected movie ‘Venicele Vyapari’ is an entertainer set in the backdrop of 1980s. The first look of the actor itself has already created a buzz. Mammootty will play the role of Pavithran, a coir merchant in the movie that will be directed by hitmaker Shafi.The actor-director combo had tasted success in the last three ventures - ‘Thommanum Makkalum,’ ‘Mayavi’ and ‘Chattambinadu.’ James Albert is the scenarist.The star cast also include Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jagathy Sreekumar, Salimkumar, Janardhanan and Suresh Krishna. Kavya Madhavan is the heroine. Madhavan Nair produces the movie under the banner Murali Films.The month of December will see the release of ‘The King and the Commissioner’ with Mammootty and Suresh Gopi in the lead roles. The movie will have two super hit characters - Joseph Alex from the movie ‘The King’ and Bharathchandran from ‘Commissioner’ - come together on screen. Directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Renji Panicker, ‘The King and theCommissioner’ is produced under the banner of Emperor Cinema. Janardhanan, Samvrutha Sunil, Devan, KPAC Lalitha and Sanjana are also there in the star cast. The movie is slated for a December 16 release.Director Johny Antony’s ‘Masters’ which will have Prithviraj and Tamil actor Sasikumar (‘Subramanipuram’ fame) will also hit screens by December. Produced by B Sharath Chandran under the banner Sincere Cinema, ‘Masters’ is scripted by Jinu Abraham. Piya Bajpai, Ananya, Jagathy Sreekumar, Vijayaraghavan, Biju Menon and Siddique are the other actors.
