CUTTACK: Back-to-back blasts in a shop in Sikharpur area of the City triggered a wave of panic on Saturday evening. At least eight persons were injured, three of them seriously, in the incident. Bombs are believed to have triggered the explosions in Siba Communications, a shop dealing in mobile cards, DTH vouchers and other such products, in Nadikulia Sahi. The incident occurred at about 8 pm. Two explosions rocked the shop when about eight persons were present, including the owner Kartik Behera and his assistants Balaram and Shyam Sundar. The explosions left all the eight injured. Kartik and his assistants were grievously hurt. It was not immediately known how the explosions took place. Locals told police that they saw no one hurling any bomb at the shop. Police were trying to ascertain if the bombs were stored in the shop and went off accidentally. The incident has brought Kartik’s possible links with anti-socials or criminals under scanner. Chauliaganj Police, which reached the spot and rushed the injured to the hospital, is investigating into the incident. While the three are under observation, the rest suffered minor injuries, police said.
