A block development officer (BDO), Sanjay Kumar, has been suspended on bribery charges, an official release said in Ranchi on Saturday.
Y Prasad, the Deputy Secretary of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Raj Bhasha, issued a directive in this connection, the release said.
The action was taken against the Palamau district's Bishrampur BDO following his arrested on June 7 on bribery charges.
A vigilance team caught him red handed while he was allegedly accepting Rs 2000 from a beneficiary of Indira Awas Yojana at his Shivaji Maidan residence in Medininagar, the headquarters town of Palamau, district SP Narendra Kumar Singh said on the day when the accused was arrested.
The vigilance bureau laid the trap after the beneficiary, Satyandra Paswan, had reported the matter to it that the BDO was allegedly demanding a cut for allotment of a house under the welfare project.
