New Delhi: A group of IT professionals in Bangalore are forming a special Kannada Koota or Union to lead the IT employees' protests against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict.
The group was formed five days ago and staged its first demonstration on MG Road in Bangalore on Sunday morning.
Over 400 employees from over 30 IT companies in Bangalore came together and shouted slogans against the verdict for three hours.
Ending a 16-year-long wait, the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal on February 5 announced its decision, allocating Tamil Nadu 419 thousand million cubic feet of water out of 740 tmcft available in the basin while Karnataka's share has been fixed at 270 TMC feet. However, the actual release by Karnataka to Tamil Nadu would be only 192 tmcft annually.
