KOCHI :The concept master plan of the SmartCity Kochi project has received approval of the board of directors. The plan has been forwarded to the Special Economic Zone Board for approval.In a statement issued on Wednesday, the SmartCity officials said that the project has made steady progress. The recently conducted meeting of the board of directors was attended by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Excise Minister K Babu, T Balakrishnan, Director and MD Inkel, Anirudha Damkey, Director and Chief Investment Officer, TECOM, P H Kurian, Principal Secretary - Information Technology, Baju George, Managing Director, SmartCity (India) and Jawad Suleiman, Executive Director, Project Development & Planning, SmartCity Dubai. The SmartCity Kochi Pavilion, which is currently under construction, is expected to be ready by May 1. The SmartCity team will start operations at the sales pavilion from May. The pavilion will be set up across a built-up area of 10,900 sq feet. It will be an enlarged pavilion with a steel structure set within the natural terrain. The pavilion involves an enclosure supported by steel structural skeleton. It will house an open planned office area, enclosed rooms and utilities for project and marketing operations, open reception area, marketing display area of the project along with meeting rooms and state-of-the-art facilities. “The design is based on green building initiatives. We have used double glazed materials for the building, thereby providing a favourable work environment for our employees,” said Jawad Suleiman.
