Police scanning city still a week after bombs were found in diamond hub.
Surat: A bomb was defused in Surat on Sunday—the 22nd to be found in the city after serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 killed 51 people.
The bomb was found in a bag at a bus-stand next to the Chowpati Municipal Garden in Athwa Lines.
As many as 22 bombs were defused in and around Varacha of the city. Two cars laden with explosives were also found there.
However, none of the bombs exploded apparently due to
faulty integrated circuit chips in them. Surat has been on high alert since then and police have been conducting combing operations and questioning suspects.
