PERAMBALUR: A seven-year-old boy from Perambalur has been allegedly shedding his skin as he is suffering from a mysterious skin disease.It is said, Rajadurai (7) the second child of Ashok Kumar and Dhanalakshmi of Vengalam in Veppanthattai, studying in class 2 at Panchayat union primary school, has irritation all over his body right from his tender age of six months. Since then, he has been spending sleepless nights as he has been suffering from severe itching. The itching become severe during no moon day. In due course his skin started shedding.Since the change take place in his body only during the no moon day, the parents and the local public have started weaving stories about this mysterious change in Rajadurai. The neighbours claim that Rajadurai’s skin resembles as that of a snake.When contacted, the parents of Rajadurai, said that they took him to several doctors for this strange ailment but in vain. “The volume of skin shedding increases day by day,” they said.When contacted, Dr N Balasubramaniam, dermatologist and Medical Superintendent of Chennai Medical College, Tiruchy said, shedding of skin is common due dryness, especially during winter. This is known as ichthyosis, a congenital ailment. “Shedding of skin every month could be impossible. Anyway a detailed medical investigation would possibly cure the disease,” Dr Balasubramaniam said.
