In March 2013, Dr HPS Mythri got a high rank in the recruitment exam for the Karnataka Administrative Service. She was confident of a top job until she went for her personality test. Dr Mythri said, "I got a call from the KPSC member saying I'm the topper in the ST category and I should go and meet the member for a negotiation. Since I'm from the ST category and a woman, the price is concessional or else it would have been between Rs 1 and Rs 1.5 crore." Karnataka Administrative Service aspirant Dr HPS Mythri joined IBNLive readers for an interaction on the issue.
Q. Are govt officers are forced to be corrupt? Is it a vicious cycle? Asked by: leena
A. Yes that's right .....when the candidate buys the job paying huge money, he /she will try to recover the same once they are government officers and they are made corrupt at the entry level itself ...they will lose the morality and ethics. Yes, this is a vicious cycle of corruption. Giving bribe and recovering it back.
Q. I have information that minium bribe they asked was 45 Lacs, who approached you first and why you didn't report to law enforcement authorities at that time. Asked by: ramprasad
A. One of the KPSC members approached me first .....the price tag for AC revenue post is 70 lacs ...for Dysp post 60 lacs and for tahsildar post it is 40 lacs. Being a candidate I was scared to inform the law enforcement authorities as I thought it would adversely affect my results.

A. My mains optional subjects were rural development and cooperation and Kannada literature.
Q. Madam, you better name out the name of the officials you met for so called negotiations over the media. People should know the truth about KPSC officials. Asked by: sandesh kattemane
A. Well, I will give the names of the officials to the investigating team.
Q. Hi, how much you got in mains and how much difference is it from the topper? Asked by: ramprasad
A. My mains score is 1009 ... and I stood first in ST category the second position woman has scored 937.5 the difference in the score is 72.5 marks.
Q. Also, one of my friend who is in the same boat said to me that there were many software engineers who could afford and got job is that true? Asked by: ram
A. Well, I am not aware of this.
Q. How were you supposed to pay money in case you had agreed, by cash? Asked by: ram
A. Yes, it is by cash only.

A. Yes, the government posts are auctioned with some posts being bid against each other.
Q. What are your future plans? Asked by: anurag
A. Since the government has initiated the steps to enquire into the malpractices in the present recruitments, hope to get justice.
