Even as former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa is hitting headlines for his tirades against his partymen, his detractors in the state BJP, including Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa have decided to lodge a complaint against him with the party national leadership.
The state BJP leaders who have gone to Surajkund in Haryana to attend a three-day BJP national executive and council meeting have decided to apprise the party national leadership about Yeddyurappa’s recent outburst against a section of BJP leaders and his threats to leave the party in December.
According to sources, the state leaders have taken CDs of an interview that Yeddyurappa gave to a private news channel and also news paper cuttings to substantiate their complaint. However, the leaders did not get the opportunity on Wednesday to discuss state issues and they might do so on Thursday.
“Since the state Assembly elections are a few months away, the party needs to take a firm decision on Yeddyurappa. We cannot afford to drag it any further,” said a senior BJP leader on conditions of anonymity. This apart, the leaders would also urge the party national leadership to appoint new state president as early as possible.
In a move that could further anger Yeddyurappa, the state BJP has reportedly suggested six names for consideration for the post of state BJP president which would be vacated by Eshwarappa. However, none from the Lingayat community figures in the list of probable candidates.
Dharwad MP Prahlad Joshi, primary education minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel have already been named and the new ones to join the race are Social Welfare minister A Narayanswamy, MLA Govind Karjol and Higher Education Minister CT Ravi.
