BANGALORE: Strongly refuting the allegation that he had illegally denotified 3.73 acres in Thanisandra during his tenure as CM, JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy accused senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa of using officials to defame him and his family members. At a press conference here on Tuesday, Kumaraswamy said, “Yeddyurappa will not succeed in his attempts to send me to jail as I have not done anything illegal during my tenure as CM. The 3.73-acre land was denotified as per law in favour of farmers and not former minister C Chennigappa. This is the handiwork of Yeddyurappa to fix me and tarnish my family’s image.”Kumaraswamy said he had documents to nail Yeddyurappa and his family members, apart from the ones that appeared in the media and courts.“Let Yeddyurappa not stoop to politics of revenge and hate. If I make public the documents one by one, he will have no place to hide. It would be better for him and his party if he is careful,” he added.Alleging that officials in the CM’s Secretariat appointed by Yeddyurappa were re-writing documents in order to fix him and his family members, he lambasted CM’s political secretary B J Puttaswamy for indulging in character assassination of former PM H D Deve Gowda. “I wonder if Sadananda Gowda is aware that his secretariat is full of Yeddyurappa’s men who are fabricating documents with the sole intention of tarnishing my image.”According to Kumaraswamy, his government had denotified 3.73 acres in Thanisandra as it was wrongly notified by the BDA. “The lands have been returned to the original owners. No consideration was involved as there was no favouritism. How can it be illegal when denotification has been done by invoking the clause prevailing in Urban Development Laws,” he said.
