MYSORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa launched a diatribe, albeit veiled, at his predecessor D V Sadananda Gowda during the Basava Jayanti celebrations here on Tuesday “There has been no progress on the establishment of Basaveshwara Research Centre (BRC) in Bangalore for the last eight months.I had allocated `25 crore during the previous budget for the same...I hope the government completes the project,” Yeddyurappa addressed.The former chief minister could not hold back from speaking about politics occasion despite promising not to do so.“Some people tried to frame charges against me...I will not bow to any pressure; I had done a lot for the welfare of the state as CM.I will work for public welfare until my last breath,” he said.District Minister S A Ramdas said a ‘Basava Adhyayana Peetha’ (Basava study centre) will be opened in the University of Mysore shortly.Even Americans follow the ‘Vachanas’ (couplets) of Basavanna, he said, adding that the philosopher must not be restricted to any particular community.He also said that a Basava Sandesha Bhavana will come up soon in Mysore at a cost of `10 crore.Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami of Suttur Mutt was also present.
