BANGALORE: ‘Netizens’ in the city have been busy checking ‘Budget 2012’ on search engines in the last seven days. Google India, which made the observations, claimed that for the past one week, people were looking into budget related news at least once in a day, when they logged into internet.Officials stated that Karnataka’s growth volume index was 100. Attributing this to the keenness of IT professionals, they said that the numbers reflect the number of searches that have been done for a particular term, relative to the total number of searches done on Google. The search engine giants said, “They don’t represent absolute search volume numbers, because the data is normalised and presented on a scale from 0-100.”Maharashtra was second in budget searches with a growth volume index of 88, followed by Tamil Nadu at 87. New Delhi clocked up 83 growth volume Index while West Bengal clocked 82 growth volume index.Speaking to Express, an IT professional said that he was keen to know the status of tax reforms, infrastructure provision and other benefits. “I would like to know the impact of implementation of Direct Tax Code and the Goods and Services Tax,” an auditor said.
