THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday is likely to clear the Governor’s address to the Assembly slated for June 24 with it being approved by the Cabinet sub-committee on Tuesday.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy convened the meeting of a Cabinet sub-committee to finalise the Governor’s address.After the final approval from the Cabinet, it would be sent to the Governor by this week end.The UDF Government’s mantra ‘Development and Care’ is going to be the focus of the address. Sources said that a slew of welfare schemes are likely to be announced by the Governor.With it being the first address by the Governor after the UDF Government came to power, the it is expected to be a more populist one.The Assembly session is beginning on June 24 for the budget session and Finance Minister K M Mani will present the budget on July 8. Remission PetitionR Balakrishna Pillai’s remission petition and the report submitted by the Jail Department on this will also be coming before the Cabinet on Wednesday. The Cabinet is likely to seek the opinion of the Advocate General on this issue as the UDF government does not want to take a hasty decision on this.
