BELGAUM: Members of the ruling group in Belgaum City Corporation said they will stage a dharna on the corporation office here on Wednesday if mayor Manda Balekundri and her deputy Renu Killekar do not resign by Tuesday.A meeting of the corporators held under the leadership of former mayor N B Nirwani here on Sunday also discussed the possibility of resigning en masse if thegovernment fails to initiate action against the mayor and the deputy mayor.The Government had served show-cause notices on Manda and Renuka and the deadline for their replies ends on Tuesday. Meanwhile, both mayor and deputy mayor have decided not to answer to the notice. Government had served notices to the duo as they participated in the black day observed by pro-Maharashtrian organisations during the Karnataka Rajyostava celebrations.Manda’s address to pro-Maharashtian organisations during the Rajyotsava celebrations, which followed a spate of her pro-Marathi statements earlier, is viewed as yet another confirmation of her ‘’anti-Karnataka’’ stance.
