Campaign on scientific rubber tapping soon

KOTTAYAM: The Rubber Board is organising an intensive mass contact programme at thousands of centres in rubber growing areas to create awareness among the growers about the significance of scientific tapping.
The meetings are scheduled to be held from June 6 to July 22. Four thousand meetings with a participation of 1.5 lakh growers and tappers will be arranged in the traditional rubber growing belt of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with the active involvement of the rubber producers societies, selfhelp groups, NGOs and other voluntary organisations. Even when the growers are getting fairly good price for natural rubber (NR) owing to its increasing demand in the market, the Rubber Board is aiming to enhance productivity in the small holdings so that the growers are benefited by the prevailing price.
