New Delhi: With dictionary apps for smartphones abound, standalone electronic dictionaries seem to be fighting a losing battle. But that hasn't deterred Casio from launching new dictionary devices.
Casio India launched the EW-B100C and B2000C dictionaries in India on Thursday. The handheld devices come with a QWERTY keyboard and include rechargeable batteries.
These portable devices help users find the meanings of any English or French words, translations, finding the correct spelling, synonyms and more. They also come with built-in speakers to help pronounce words correctly.
The EW-B100C is priced at Rs 7995 and includes eight English dictionaries and the higher-end B2000C includes 11 English and French dictionaries along with the Britannica Concise Encyclopaedia. The B2000C is priced at Rs 14,995.
The B2000C supports microSD cards and also has USB connectivity to allow file transfer from the PC to the device.
Also aimed to be a teaching device, they can be connected to a projector for use in classroom environments. The dictionaries will be available at Casio dealers and bookstores across India.
