Lucknow/Bhopal: The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the mysterious death of Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer Madan Gopal Rusia, whose body was found on a railway track some distance from Agra railway station September 10.
Rusia was the chief executive officer of the Bhopal Development Authority.
"We have decided to transfer the case to CBI following a communication in this regard from the Madhya Pradesh chief minister", state Home Secretary Mahesh Gupta told reporters in Lucknow on Sunday evening.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote to his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Mayawati for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Rusia's death near Agra, official sources said in Bhopal on Sunday.
"Since the incident took place in Agra in Uttar Pradesh, the CBI could take up the case only after a request from the Uttar Pradesh government. A CBI inquiry will be appropriate in view of a request by the deceased's family and also because of involvement of more than one state government in the probe," Chouhan said in his letter sent on Saturday.
Rusia went missing while returning from Delhi by the Bhopal Express. He had gone to the capital along with Huzur constituency legislator Jitendra Daga.
