NEW DELHI: The CBI on Friday filed a chargesheet against ex-Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and nine others, before a Delhi court for allegedly abusing their official posts to give ‘pecuniary advantage’ while allowing a medical college in Indore to carry out admissions without having sufficient faculty and clinical material in 2008.Besides Anbumani, the 36-page-long chargesheet also names KVS Rao, Director in Cabinet Secretariat, Sudershan Kumar, Section Officer of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MHFW), Dr JS Dhupia and Dr Dipendra Kumar Gupta of Safdarjung Hospital, Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman of Index Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (IMCHRC), Dr SK Tongia, ex-Dean of the college, Dr KK Saxena, Medical Director of the college, Nitin Gothwal and Dr Pawan Bhambani.The CBI has charged Ramadoss, Rao, Kumar and the two doctors of Safdarjung Hospital under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC along with offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA). Besides, Bhadoria and other four have been charged with cheating and forgery. According to the chargesheet, Ramadoss, in conspiracy with other accused, allowed IMCHRC to go ahead with admissions for second year even after the Medical Council of India (MCI) and a panel appointed by the Supreme Court had stated that the institution was not having sufficient faculty and clinical material required as per the MCI norms.“The accused entered into a conspiracy in which IMCHRC gained pecuniary advantage in the form of granting permission for admission to the second batch of MBBS for the academic year 2008-09 ignoring the recommendations of the MCI,” the chargesheet said.
