BANGALORE: Ratna Cements Ltd which is under cloud after former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy levelled allegations of taking undue favours from state government has clarified that B S Yeddyurappa has not granted any undue favours to the company which may have caused loss to the state exchequer.
"Certain allegations made by Kumaraswamy are illconceived and travesty of truth. None of the allegations pertains to the period of Yeddyurappa. On the contrary, these pertain to the period when there was Governor's rule," Ratna Cements director N Chandrashekar stated in a press release. The statement further clarified that the cement company had paid royalty to the landlords as well as the government, at the allotment of limestone mining lease of 1417.5 acres of land and when the materials (limestone) was extracted.

"Mining lease for limestone bearing number 1828 in the area of 1417.50 acres in Yadwad village in favour of Singith, the MD of Ratna Cements for a period of 20 years. Since limestone comes under nonspecified major minerals, the powers for granting mining lease in respect of this mineral has been delegated to the director of mines," Chandrashekar stated.
