The campus of the Central University of Kerala to be set up in Kasargod can boast of being a smart, intelligent eco-friendly campus, which will be self-sustainable with a capacity to reverse the power flow to the grid if possible.
The criteria of the master plan of the Central University promise the campus to be the first-of-its-kind in the country. Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal is expected to lay the foundation stone for the campus on September 17.
The Central University of Kerala, Kasargod, envisions its permanent green campus at Pullur-Periya village on 310 acres of land facing NH 17. The fully residential campus will be developed in phases and will cater to around 3,000 students in different academic streams by 2015-16.
According to university officials, the campus will be built in such a way that it utilises natural light source in the day time and all the blocks will be fitted with solar heating and power system.
