Centre should review India's population policy: RSS
"Rising population and imbalance in its ratio is posing a serious trouble for the country," Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Punjab unit Saha Prant Sanghchalak Jagdish Gagneja said.

Jalandhar: Expressing concern over "demographic imbalances", the Punjab unit of RSS on Tuesday urged the Centre to reformulate the National Population Policy saying an imbalance in its ratio poses a "threat" to integrity and cultural identity of the country.

"Rising population and imbalance in its ratio is posing a serious trouble for the country. It would affect the integrity and cultural identity of the nation if nothing is done to contain it right now," Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Punjab unit Saha Prant Sanghchalak Jagdish Gagneja said.

"Centre should not wait to review its population control policy. Its slogan of 'Hum do, Hamare do' should be implemented on every person and it is the duty of all citizens to accept it for the development of the nation," he said.

In a recent meeting of RSS in Ranchi, Gagneja said, a proposal was made demanding reformulation of population control policy, curb on infiltration from across the border and preparation of National Register of Citizens to stop illegal migrants from acquiring citizenship rights and purchasing land.

Claiming that the Sangh had managed to make inroads in 3,000 villages of Punjab, he said around 8,000 people enroll in RSS every month through the website of the organisation. The RSS leader also condemned the recent incidents of sacrilege in Punjab.
