THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was not ready to confirm whether his government will have only 20 ministers.
Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Chandy said that he could give a reply to this only after sorting out the issue of selecting the nominees for Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Parliamentary Affairs posts. On repeated queries about IUML's claim that they will have five ministers in the Cabinet, Oommen Chandy said that he would confirm it only after discussions with the UDF constituents.

''Everything will be known by June 2 when the Assembly elects the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker,'' he said.

''As of now, the UDF decision is to have 20 ministers,'' he added.

The government on Monday decided to place one government employee on deputation for all MPs and they will be serving them in their respective constituencies.
