Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav on Friday shared a beautiful video of Cheetah Gamini enjoying the rains and playing with her little cubs at the Kuno National Park.

The 2-minute video clip shows little cubs, who were born in March this year, jumping and playing amongst each other in the rain as their mother joins in. The five cubs continue to play as their mother keeps a close watch on the babies.

The minister calls their bond a timeless tale of familial harmony amidst nature’s seasonal embrace.

“Cheetah Gamini with her 5 five cubs this morning enjoying the rain in Kuno National Park. Together, they weave a timeless tale of familial harmony amidst nature’s seasonal embrace,” Yadav captioned the video.

In March, Cheetah ‘Gamini’ gave birth to her five cubs in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, taking the total number of big cats in the country to 26, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav said.

Under the ambitious cheetah reintroduction project, eight Namibian cheetahs, comprising five females and three males, were released into enclosures at KNP in September 2022.

In February 2023, another 12 cheetahs were brought to the park from South Africa. Gamini is part of the group brought from South Africa.

Since March last year, 10 cheetahs, including three cubs born to Jwala, have passed away. As of March this year, the cheetah population in Kuno National Park comprises seven females, six males, and 13 cubs, as per officials.
