A Class X boy died in Gulbarga on Friday after allegedly being beaten by a teacher.
Muhammed Moinoddin, father of Mohammed Bilal (15), a student at the Sri Guru Vidya Peetha said a teacher called him to inform that his son had lost consciousness and was admitted to Dhanvantri Hospital.
When he went there with his relatives, they found his son’s body.
Nobody from the school management or teachers was present at the hospital, Moinoddin said. He demanded that the police take action against the teacher and school management.
Moinoddin told Superintendent of Police Praveen Pawar that the school management used to harass his son. He said he had even complained about this to the management.
Even on Thursday, when Bilal was observing Roza (Ramzan fast), the teacher objected to it and made him sit outside the class, he said. Moinoddin said his son was weak in Kannada and alleged that the Kannada teacher used to punish him.
The SP told Express that there was an abrasion on the boy’s left cheek. Police have registered a murder case and would take action after receiving the postmortem report, he said.
Meanwhile, duty doctor of Dhanvantri Hospital Dr Raju Kulageri told reporters that Bilal was brought dead by the school management. A member of the management collapsed on hearing about it and later recovered.
All management members fled before the boy’s relatives arrived, Dr Kulageri said. However, a teacher denied that Bilal died due to beating and said on condition of anonymity that the boy was normal till Thursday when he observed his fast.
On Friday, when he was going to have his meal, he collapsed.
