BANGALORE: After a brief hiatus, the Standing Committees in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike (BBMP) are at it again as the Establishments and Administrative Reforms Committee carried out an inspection on the commissioner’s office in the BBMP headquarters on Wednesday.Though there were many irregularities in attendance found by the erstwhile committees, the newly constituted committee stated that the attendance percentage had risen considerably. But this having stated, Krishnappa, chairman of the committee stated that proceedings register had not been maintained. He said that the same had not been updated or checked by senior officials of the joint commissioner (administration).Added to this, the received file had not been entered into the PR Register, nor were they maintained properly. The chairman said that the officials at the commissioner’s office were unable to provide details sought by the committee members on various issues. He said that A and B division employees had still not complied to directives to declare their assets and liabilities. The last date for officials to declare their assets was May 31, but many of them had failed to do so.“Nearly 90 per cent officials from Public Works and 40 per cent from Revenue Department have still not declared their assets and liabilities,” he said and added that officials on deputation had also defaulted on these orders. The committee also observed that there were severe lapses in the preparation of the Service Promotion List.“It is sad that senior officials had also not taken note of this matter,” Krishnappa said.Adding to the irregularities, he said that additional information to either incriminate or take disciplinary action had not been provided in the case of suspended officials on deputation, to their parent departments. He said that in the case of misappropriation of funds, information should have been sent to the government.
