KHAMMAM: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat has welcomed the Supreme Court’s judgment of cancelling the 122 2-G spectrum telecom licences issued in 2008 and asked the central government to conduct an open auction for issuing licences afresh.Speaking at a meeting of the party’s state committee here on Thursday, Karat said the enormous corruption had derailed the welfare and developmental schemes in the country . “Jan Lokpal cannot eradicate the evil of corruption.People and political parties should wage a united fight against corruption.Companies which get licences by offering bribes should be blacklisted to contain the growing corporate corruption in the country.’’ Holding the UPA government responsible for the spiralling prices and other problems being faced by people, he said it had no right to stay in office. People should teach the UPA a lesson in the elections to the State Assemblies in five states, he said and claimed that the Left parties were waging a relentless and united fight against governments on public issues. Party state secretary BV Raghavulu said the party cadre was taking up people’s cause. CPI state secretary K Narayana denied accused the media of supporting bourgeois parties.CPM Politburo member Brinda Karat, central committee member Tammineni Veerabhadram, district secretary P Sudershan Rao and other leaders participated in the meeting.
