HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana who will be in Delhi on Saturday, are likely to hold talks with Congress senior leaders and finalise the name of the MLC candidate for the vacancy caused by the resignation of K Rosaiah on his appointment as governor of Tamil Nadu.As the last date for filing of nominations is very close— October 24— both the chief minister and the PCC president want to select the party candidate on October 22 so that he can file his papers in time.The seat falls under MLAs quota. There are at least a dozen aspirants for the MLC seat and they have been leaving no stone unturned to impress the Congress high command. Foremost among them are former PCC president D Srinivas, former speaker KR Suresh Reddy, former minister Md Ali Shabber, former Rajya Sabha member Girish Sanghi, former MLC Madasu Gangadharam and PCC disciplinary committee chairman Kantheti Satyanarayana Raju. Ever since the unexpected exit of Rosaiah from the Legislative Council, the aspirants have been lobbying with the chief minister and the PCC president to get the seat. The visit of the chief minister and the PCC president to Delhi assumes significance as it comes at a time when the efforts are on to end the strike by the Telangana employees as early as possible.It is expected that the two leaders will also discuss with the party high command the way for an honourable exit for the striking Telangana staff from Sakala Janula Samme
