The Congress party is one of the great wonders of the world for the fact that many organisations set up around the same period ‘went under six feet of earth or was left gasping for breath’,said Defence Minister A K Antony here on Saturday.
“The party had experienced many spring seasons and also hard times. But the party had risen like a phoenix. There is no parallel to it,” Antony said.
Releasing a book on A O Hume- The Father of National Movement, authored by T S Joy, along with a science fiction and a collection of poems of two different authors,all brought out by Priyadarshini Publications under the KPCC, Antony said that it was unfortunate that no title was brought out on the founder of the Congress in Malayalam so far.
“The attempt of the KPCC to bring out a title on the founder of the party is heartening. The title gives many insights including the writing on the wall for the party on many issues. Apart from publications,the state unit of the party was also active in the promotion of the print and the electronic media as well as the theatre in a notable way. Though I’m a non-believer in many things,I’ve total faith now in the diversified activities under the KPCC chief, Antony said.
“The KPCC is not confining its work to just releasing leaflets. It has brought out 90 titles in three years. Altogether,there is a new vibrancy in the party,” he said.
Alpha Madangunnu, authored by P N Krishnankutty and a collection of poetry of Alpha Yunus were released by the Union Minister.
Presiding over the function,KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that ‘Priyadarshini Publications’ was able to earn credibility within a short span of time and many writers are willing now to script titles for publication under the House. Bookstalls in three major cities and a touring bookstall is being planned.
Health Minister V S Sivakumar,Thalekkunnil Basheer, M M Hassan,Palode Ravi MLA,PSC chairman K S Radhakrishnan, KTDC chairman Vijayan Thomas and others spoke.
