BHUBANESWAR: With around 48,708 calls responded to in the last one month, the modern police control room has given a boost to policing and rendering of swift action and assistance to people in the Capital. Over 190 persons injured in different accidents or other incidents have been attended to immediately by the PCR vans and taken to hospitals, a review by the Commissioner of Police BK Sharma has revealed. The highest number of calls received in a day was 1,830 on July 5. Besides shifting injured to the hospitals, the PCR vans have also rescued eight women and two minors and  placed them with short stay homes. More than 48 burglars were caught red-handed, while 12 unclaimed vehicles have been recovered from across the city. Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has pressed motorcycles to make patrolling more effective. The 10 motorcycles rode by a havildar and a constable each are equipped with advanced GPS tracking systems for quick access as well as tracing of movement. They have been deployed in all the major localities of the city, police sources said.Body Found on Railway trackBody of an unidentified old man was found on the railway track near Poonama Gate under old Air Field police limits on Tuesday. The man was with lungi and sweater. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
