CHENNAI: The recent discovery of a 17-year-old girl’s body floating in a well has triggered speculation of a revenge attack, even as the Tiruvallur police investigating the case await the postmortem report to ascertain if she was raped.Priya (name changed), a Plus Two student of Eknapuram village, usually cycled back home after tuitions. On Monday, however, she failed to turn up at home. The police found her books lying near a well in RK Pet, Tiruvallur district, a few hours after her parents lodged a complaint. Her body was found floating in the well the next day.The police suspect that she was killed in a revenge attack. They have detained four youth, who had reportedly harassed Priya on an earlier occasion, for questioning in this connection.
