Corporators surrender before court in Thane builder suicide case

Mumbai: Four corporators - named in the builder Suraj Parmar suicide case – were surrendered before a Thane court on Saturday.

Those who were surrendered are: Vikrant Chavan of the Congress, Najib Mulla and Hanumant Jagdale of the NCP, and Sudhakar Chavan, an independent.

On December 1, Bombay high court, while rejecting their anticipatory bail pleas, asked all the four Thane corporators to surrender before the court. However, the corporators requested the court for some time to surrender. Then the court asked all of them to surrender before the court on December 5.

On October 7, 2015, Parmar, a real estate developer, had shot himself at his under-construction building. He had left behind a 13-page suicide note, in which he blamed harassment by corporators and municipal corporation officers.

The Kasarwadavali police station registered a case of abetment of suicide on October 12, 2015.
