CHENNAI: The DMDK on Monday urged the State government to take immediate steps to identify those persons who have got appointment in State government offices by producing fake community certificates.Participating in the discussion on demands for grants for Adi Dravida Welfare Department in the Assembly, R Shanthi, DMDK member from Senthamangalam constituency, said the government should appoint a three-member observation panel to identify the errants. In this connection, Shanthi referred to the report of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and the Supreme Court that over 30 per cent of the staff in public sector undertakings of the Central and State governments had joined the service by producing fake community certificate as STs. She said amendments to the rules for getting loans from TAHDCO should be made so that beneficiaries could engage themselves in the industries of their choice since during the previous regimes, TAHDCO funds were returned to the Centre as no beneficiaries could be found as per existing rules.
