Create a climate for research

CHENNAI: It is imperative to create a climate that motivates students and faculty to pursue research, experts have said.“The UGC last year had come up with the academic point indicators for the faculty. For their own career advancement, the faculty now have to earn their points by attending various seminars, conferences, paper presentation in journals and also by undertaking research,” S Santhosh Baboo, the organising secretary of UGC coordination cell of DG Vaishnav College said.During a workshop two-day workshop on ‘Research Methodology and Preparation of Project Proposal’ organised at DG Vasihnav College, experts highlighted the aspects of choosing research topics, methodology, technical writing, research project proposal presentation. Around 160 research scholars and teachers from various colleges took part.
