Criminals among cops to be kept out of service

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Criminals among police officers will be kept out of the service, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the Assembly.  A committee consisting of DGP, ADGP (Intelligence), ADGP (Crime), south zone and north zone ADGPs will study the  cases every six months. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the government will take action against the officers. Sixty-eight trainees and policemen who have completed their training have been kept out after a scrutiny of their antecedents, behaviour and criminal background, he  said. The State Government had sanctioned the filling of 62.13 hectares after the introduction of the Paddy and Wetland Protection Act, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan informed the House.
